
LIVE RXPP 6110: Overview of Program Basic Sciences in Gross Anatomy and Physiology | via NMSU

In this class, students will be provided with an overview of the 25-month clinical psychopharmacology curriculum at NMSU. The training director will provide information related to the program expectations, degree requirements, and resources. The program curriculum is reviewed; academically and clinically. Finally, the training director will review the New Mexico Law for Prescriptive Authority; and other states with RxP legislation as needed. Dr. McDougall will introduce the necessary competencies required of a prescribing psychologist as defined by the ASPPB Psychopharmacology Examination for Psychologists. In addition, he will detail the skill set necessary for a successful and competent prescribing psychologist in New Mexico. Dr. McDougall will discuss the psychobiosocial model of care. Dr. Manzoor will provide an introduction to gross anatomy,physiology, and the relevance of overall health of a patient to an RxP psychologist in a primary and/or specialty care medical setting. By the end of the training weekend,psychologists will have completed a detailed review of the clinical psychopharmacology program at NMSU. In addition, they will have received a detailed review of the competencies examined through the ASPPB PEP; as well as learned about the skill sets required of a practicing prescribing psychologist in a primary care setting. Attendees will be exposed to the foundation clinical competencies, in the basic sciences, of human anatomy and physiology.

as defined by the APA Designation Committee - List 10 Content Areas of the Psychopharmacology Examination
for Psychologists. - List 20 Knowledge Statements within the Psychopharmacology Examination for
Psychologists. - List 3-degree requirements to graduate with a Master of Science in Clinical
Psychopharmacology degree at NMSU. - List 4 sections of the Conditional Prescribing Psychologist application; as defined
by the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department. - Regarding intro to anatomy, list 10 Characteristics of Life.
- List 10 major organ systems.
- List at least two major functions of each major organ system.
- List 13 relative positions (location of one body part with respect to another) in
anatomical terminology. - List 4 major/important organic substances.
- Recognize and communicate the essential terminology necessary to properly
describe the fundamental relationships and orientation of structures in the human
body. - List at least 4 components of the respiratory system.
- List 5 regions of the spinal column.
- List 3 forms of medical imaging in identifying anatomic structures.
- List 5 branches of physiology.
- List 2 principles of homeostasis.
- Develop increased understanding of morphology on the cellular, tissue, and
gross levels.
