I am an Iowa native. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University. I enjoy conducting therapy for children, & adults. I work in private practice, as well as seeing clients at Ames Middle and High School. I have an integrative theoretical orientation that blends Cognitive Behavioral, Interpersonal, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, & Play Therapy models. I provide individual psychotherapy for children as young as 4th or 5th grade, adolescents, and adults. I work collaboratively with individuals & their families on adjustment & transition issues, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance, ADHD, learning disorders, behavior disorders, autism spectrum disorders,Borderline Personality Disorder, trauma issues, & mood disorders. I have a predominantly "here & now" and strengths-based focus & incorporate problem solving and therapeutic homework in sessions. I also provide presentations on mental health issues for organizations and occasionally teach at the collegiate level.
